HISTORY

Nuclear Science Timeline
by Rick Maltese
Eugene Wigner and Alvin Weinberg are the two most credited with the work although the actual concept was from Ray Briant, Vince Calkins, and Ed Bettis of ORNL.
Other people like C.H. Barton, father of blogger Charles Barton,
have all worked on the testing and research for the Molten Salt Reactor.

Charles Barton Jr. is now a strong supporter of the Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor (LFTR) which is a specific version of the Thorium Molten Salt Reactor and most of my personal posts on this site support LFTR.

See Charles Barton Jr.s Blog post about Weinberg and Nuclear Safety. It really illuminates his achievements and one day he’ll be seen as a major figure (perhaps the most important after 1950) in the History of Nuclear Energy
